You summed it up pretty well there John. I was at that point speaking with their support on the phone and they say something like it's a known bug of the site. I mean a website with known bug that cannot be fixed? A website is not authored using assembly or c++ c'mon. So right then and there I decided nope, I won't be doing business with these guys anymore. No matter how popular they are, simple thing as making it easy for a client to renew via PayPal and they can't fix that "bug".

With all my active domains in GoDaddy, I'm slowly transferring them over to Namecheap. I find registering and configuring domains in Namecheap direct and straight to the point without me googling for "how to do this in Godaddy" everytime. Yesterday I just pushed a domain to a friend in Namecheap because he was the one who will renew it after I bought it for him last year, and it was soooo easy. I'm thinking all these years Godaddy has been making things complicated for me and shoving ads and additional features that I don't want everytime I click a button.

Transferring domains will cost me some but in the end after all those domains are transferred, I will be in bliss.

If you (or anyone reading this) know of any domain seller out there then please tell us.

Hello Jed,
Same thing happened to me yesterday. What a bad day I had yesterday with this issue. Wanted to buy 3 competitive domain names fast. But finally I couldn't. Always bought with Godaddy before with coupon + paypal and No problem. I don't know what the heck happened right there, but the only conclusion I can jump to, is that it's a 100% profit company. They don't want to give discount via coupon and then pay additional percentage to paypal (OMG they will lose money) Honestly. I'm really pissed about it becoming complicated. I have a credit card to complete the purchase this is not the point. I use my paypal business account to purchases related to my business. And right there, they are losing one of their customers who stupidly transfered all his domains there. I'm now looking forward for a better company that doens't change policy like underwears!

PS: The most frustrating thing JED is that they took me for an idiot literraly, They told me; I quote "Paypal fixed us some restrictions using discounting coupons" I have this written along in my Support Ticket. Honestly there? They are lying in my face like this? It's not true because I work on a website that regularly give discount to their customers, and never in my life I've heard a "bullshit" like that, sorry for the term.

Tell me what you think. We should do an article about that, gather some proof to prove that they are not "Award Support winner" AT ALL !!

Ah yes. I forgot to specify why I had a need to do this -- the IT people in my office blocks every dot exe file that are not on the approved list - setup.exe of cygwin is one of them.

Or instead of using wget, you could just use the "Download without installing" option on a computer connected to the net, then copy the downloaded files to the offline environment, and proceed with "Install from Local Directory". Then you can select which pieces to download, and not the entire release (which you will with wget).

I just happened to stumble on your blog. Glad to know that I'm not the only one who's blogging about programming :)

I would say that Notepad++ is the one of the best tool for programming :)

I guess a lot of people feel more comfy when they can see a GUI and click on buttons.

For a normal computer user, HJSplit fills a certain niche. But if you have any archiving tool (7-zip, WinRAR, WinZip, etc) then you can also split files using that.

Of course `cat` would be for us folks who are too lazy to grab the mouse and let go of our keyboards :)

Well actually. Some broken file it seems, downloaded again, and merged it beautifully with cat.

Fired up HJSplit with wine and did a md5sum to compare. And they are equal :)

Then I have to retract the crapware statement. Id call it bloatware instead. Since it just complicates a simple task that no one needs dedicated program for. Not even windows users needs it, and that says a lot lol

If its as simple as using cat, this should work.
cat file.iso.00{1..8} >> file.iso (or whatever)

Tried using cat on "HJSplitted" files, but didnt work out well. Strangely.

Windows is a toy OS that is fine for toy computers and toy tasks. For real tasks, a real OS is needed.

World should use open and free standards and throw HJSplit into the fire.. Crapware in my opinion.
