Configure Outlook for GMX

Just follow the pictures, please. I’m too lazy to type right now. The important thing is to get the ports and settings right.

1. Tools > Account Settings, click New.

2. Choose Microsoft Echange, POP3, IMAP or HTTP

3. Tick “Manually configure server settings or additional server types”

4. Choose Internet E-mail

5. Fill up the fields like illustrated below. Make sure to use your full email address (yourname@gmx.com) in the E-mail Address and User Name fields.

Account Type: IMAP

Incoming mail server: imap.gmx.com

Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail.gmx.com

6. Click the More Settings button from the above window and go to the Outgoing Server tab. Tick “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” and mark the option “Use same settings as my incoming mail server”.

7. Go to the Advanced tab and make sure you have the following port and encryption settings:

Incoming server (IMAP): 143.

Encryption: None.

Outgoing server (SMTP): 465.

Encryption: SSL.

8. Click OK and in the previous window make sure to do a test by clicking on the “Test Account Settings” button.

9. Close and finish.
